Winnsboro, LA – ɫtv (LDCC) is proud to announce the launch of a new program at its Winnsboro campus designed to help students earn their high school equivalency while gaining real-world skills to begin a career as an electrician.
This innovative Career + Pathway offers students a hands-on alternative to the traditional High School Equivalency Test preparation. Rather than preparing for a test through classroom instruction alone, students will work toward their high school equivalency by engaging in meaningful job training. The program blends academic development with technical education, allowing students to build reading, writing, and math skills while training in electrical systems, safety protocols, and industry-recognized certifications.
“We’re thrilled to offer a pathway that leads directly to a career in a high-demand field, especially at a campus with exciting new facilities on the way,” said Executive Director of Adult Education and Workforce Initiatives Kelsey Vallee. “This program is a game changer for students who want more than just a diploma—it’s an opportunity to graduate job-ready and equipped for success.”
The program was developed in response to feedback from regional employers in the electrical industry, ensuring the curriculum aligns with current workforce needs and equips students with relevant, in-demand skills.
LDCC invites prospective students and community members to learn more at an upcoming interest meeting on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 5:00 PM at LDCC Winnsboro, 2889 Highway 15, Winnsboro, LA.
